What support is available from student services and financial services?

The Registrar conducts appointments and provides services via phone and email during normal business hours. In some cases, in-person appointments may also be made upon request.
Financial Services is open with normal business hours. Appointments and services through Financial Aid will continue via phone and email. The Bursar's office offers appointments and services via phone and email, and is available for in-person cash transactions on upon request.

How can parents and family members receive communications from Tufts?
The Dean of Student Affairs Office distributes a monthly newsletter during the academic year to any parent or family member who opts into the email list. We use this list to share other communications from Tufts throughout the year.
The monthly Parent Newsletter provides news and updates from Undergraduate Education, Student Affairs, Student Services, the Tufts Career Center, Financial Services, and other Student Life departments. Parents and families of undergraduate students are typically added to the mailing list for the Parent Newsletter and other general University communications the summer before their student begins their first year. Parents and family members may also add themselves to the mailing list anytime using this sign-up form.
The parent and family newsletter email distribution list is also used for notifying parents when after certain emergencies have occurred. In the event of an emergency, the University’s priority is to provide students with immediate, useable information via the TuftsAlert system, which your student is encouraged to sign up for. To communicate with parents and families after certain emergencies have been resolved, the University will use the parents and family newsletter’s email list.
Will instructors and students have access to computer labs (e.g., DataLab, Eaton Lab, Tisch, SEC classrooms with computers, etc.)?
Yes, computer labs will be available at pre-COVID-19 capacity. TTS is bolstering their virtual desktop services so students can access software online outside of physical labs. Remote users should use Tufts VPN when using the virtual lab software.
What is the policy on events held on campus?
There will be no size limits for gatherings, and people will no longer be required to remain at least six feet apart, either inside or outdoors. Standard pre-COVID room occupancy limits will apply, including in conference rooms, classrooms, offices, laboratories, gyms, studios, and libraries.
What resources are available for School of Engineering faculty teaching via distance learning?

Will I be notified if a student in my class is sick, in quarantine/isolation, or tests positive?
Instructors will be notified if a student who is slated to attend in-person will be unable to because they are in quarantine or isolation. No medical diagnosis or test results will be shared with faculty members, but you will be notified automatically via email when students are directed to refrain from in-person participation and when they have been cleared to return to in-person activities.
It seems likely that every in-person class may have at least one student who will be either fully remote or in quarantine at some point over the semester. Should we prepare for every class to also be available online?
Yes, all instructors should plan for the possibility that one or more of your students will need to quarantine or isolate for some period at any point during the semester. Per the updated move-in guidelines, many students will be participating remotely the first week of the term. Also, students with certain disabilities may require online access.
How will classes continue if faculty get sick?
The Dean’s Offices will handle this, as we normally do, with the department chairs. We may choose another instructor from within Tufts or hire someone externally to fill in. Faculty do not need to identify replacements ahead of time.
If an instructor is healthy but must quarantine, they can continue teaching from home if that is possible for them. It is a good idea to prepare some asynchronous activities for each week in Canvas that students can work on, if needed.
