I am an international student. Where can I find answers to questions about my immigration and I-20 status?

Please visit the Tufts International Center website for visa and immigration updates for the Fall 2020 semester. You can also contact your school’s International Center student advisor (full list available here). Please note that the International Center is currently issuing I-20s for students who are planning to be on campus for Fall 2020; students who are starting remotely from their home countries or deferring to a future term will be contacted by the International Center about their I-20 later this summer.

What is the policy on events held on campus?

All meetings and events (outside of classes) are limited to 10 people. We encourage you to use remote technology (e.g., Zoom, WebEx, Skype, Google hangouts, conference calls) for gatherings of more than 10 people. All gatherings should follow workplace safety guidelines/protocols (see the Return to Campus Guide for more information).

Are the libraries open?

Tufts libraries continue to provide resources and remote assistance for research and teaching, including consultations, workshops, and the addition of digital materials to our collections. Most Tufts Library spaces are still closed to the public. We have resumed some services that require staff to be on site, such as Scan & Deliver, and contactless borrowing of physical materials. Please visit the Tisch Library website to find library-specific information and contacts.

Please continue to hold on to any library materials in your possession. All due dates are extended to December, and all fines and late fees generated during the COVID-19 pandemic will be waived. If you must return materials for any reason, please use the 24-hour book return near the entrance of Tisch Library.

I am studying remotely but one of my classes does not offer that option. What can I do?

Most but not all classes will offer a virtual option. If you are planning on being virtual, you will need to register only for classes that offer that option. If you are planning to attend remotely and one or more courses you are interested in is being offered in-person only, you are encouraged to work with your academic advisor to find other courses that are offered in either hybrid or virtual format that will help you make progress toward your degree.

I am interested in doing COVID-19 research. Are there funding opportunities for this type of work?

I am a student whose research has been impacted by the suspension of on-campus research activities and/or face-to-face human subject research activities. What if this affects my ability to complete educational requirements?

Please contact your faculty advisor and/or academic advisor with any questions or concerns about educational requirements for your course or degree. 

In addition, the OVPR has assembled a number of tools and other resources to help you meet your goals while working remotely. Please contact GPS@tufts.edu to schedule a consultation on how to utilize our Goal Progression Support (GPS) programming.
